It is learned from relevant sources that the US electric vehicle manufacturer Fisker has obtained permission from the bankruptcy court to sell approximately 3,300 Ocean SUVs to a car rental company for a maximum price of US$46.25 million.
Court documents show that Fisker cars that are "in reasonably good condition" can be sold to American Lease for $16,500 each, while damaged cars that require at least $5,000 in repairs may fetch only $2,500. The judge said the deal needed to be approved quickly because Fisker was short of cash, adding that few buyers other than American Lease could purchase so many vehicles at the same time.
Fisker said the sale is critical to bringing in cash for the company that can be used for basic operations such as payroll. During Tuesday's hearing, a lawyer for Fisker said the company will be able to deliver about 1,000 electric vehicles to U.S. rental companies by Friday, bringing in about $14 million in revenue, and plans to sell an additional 500 next week. car, worth approximately $6.7 million.
